Another Great Christmas Dessert Recipe

I have decided to do Christmas recipes all of this week. This Christmas tree cake can be fun the kids since they can decorate it with a variety of candies.

Ingredients
  • 1 (9- by 13-inch) cake
  • Frosting
  • Candy for decoration, such as gumdrops, shoestring licorice, nonpareils, fruit leather, and gummy rings
 InstructionsTwo-in-One Cake -- Tree Diagrams

  1. Bake your favorite cake recipe in a 9- by 13-inch pan, taking care to spread the batter evenly so that the top of the cake is level. Let the cake cool thoroughly, remove it from the pan, and cut it as shown in one of the diagrams. Assemble the cake on a platter, then frost and decorate it.

A Great Christmas Dessert Idea

 Here is a great recipe for a Christmas dessert. Kids and adults will love these snowman cupcakes. They are easy to make and something that you can give at any time of day.

Ingredients
  • Cooled cupcake (baked from your favorite recipe)
  • White icing
  • Large marshmallows
  • Waxed paper
  • Pretzel sticks
  • Decorators' gel
  • Orange slice candy
  • Junior Mints
  • Thin Mints
  • Fruit leather
Instructions
  1. Frost a cooled cupcake (baked from your favorite recipe) with white icing.
  2. Flatten a large marshmallow on waxed paper with the palm of your hand. Cut a second marshmallow in half horizontally, then stack the halves on the first marshmallow to form a torso and head.
  3. Push a thin pretzel stick down through the snowman (this will help him stand up), then set him on the cupcake.
  4. Use decorators' gel to create a mouth, eyes, and buttons, then add pretzel stick arms and a wedge cut from an orange slice candy for a nose.
  5. Accessorize with a candy hat (a Junior Mint secured to a Thin Mint with icing) and a fruit leather scarf.

A Christmas Dessert Recipe From The Best Christmas Blog

Like I said before here at The Best Christmas Blog I like to bring you Christmas recipes that are a little unusual. In that vain here is a holiday twist on a traditional Italian pastry, the Cannoli. This is a Chocolate Cannoli that is stuffed with whipped cream, bittersweet chocolate and toasted pistachios. I think you will like this one a lot. Enjoy

Ingredients

* 1 cup unsalted pistachios
* 1 cup heavy cream
* 2 tablespoons sugar
* 2 tablespoons golden raisins
* 1 cup chopped bittersweet chocolate
* 1 cup ricotta
* 14 cannoli shells

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Toast the unsalted pistachios in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes or until crisp. Pull from oven, cool and finely chop. Place chopped pistachios in a bowl.

In the bowl of an electric mixer, whip the heavy cream with 1 tablespoon of sugar until it holds a soft peak. In a large bowl fold together the whipped cream, raisins, 1/3 of the chopped chocolate, 1/3 of the chopped pistachios and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Gently fold the whipped cream mixture into the ricotta. When ready to serve, spoon the filling into a pastry bag fitted with a fat round tip. Fill the cannoli shells from each end.

Blend the remaining chopped chocolate and pistachios on a plate.

To garnish: Dip each end of the cannoli into the chocolate pistachio mixture.

Cannoli can be filled and stored in the refrigerator no more than 1 hour ahead of time.
